Moyes’ Future Dependent On Upcoming Results As Club Consider New Contract

Dean Jones

A decision over David Moyes’ future at West Ham could depend on upcoming results, as the club weigh up a new contract offer for the Scotsman.
Moyes Willing To Commit His Future To West Ham

Sources suggest that Moyes is willing to commit his future to the Hammers, and that the expectation would be for a new deal that carries him through to 2026.

However, the combination of a bad run of form and supporter unrest could see said negotiations take time – especially if they lose again this weekend.

The board have been cautious over the timing of an offer, as they have remained open minded about possibilities beyond this season. West Ham have failed to record a victory in their last six games, so any deal would need to be timed carefully.

Board members recognise the job Moyes has done at the club after lifting the Europa Conference League title last term, but they are also considering the potential backlash to keeping him on.

Fans remain divided over the Moyes situation, and sections of support would prefer for the club to cut ties with the Scotsman at the end of this season over concerns of his playing style and whether the side are likely to progress any further.

Hammers Considering Fonesca & Carrick

Other managerial options being explored – believed to include Paulo Fonseca and Michael Carrick – have not led to further discussions as of yet.

At this stage, it is unclear how soon a new deal could be on the table for Moyes despite sources indicating to SportsLens that any new contract will be expected to cover the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.

West Ham face Arsenal at the weekend and the impact of a win – or indeed a loss – could affect the pace of talks.

If the bad spell of results continues there is every likelihood of fans voicing their concerns about the prospect of Moyes staying beyond his current contract. Owner David Sullivan is having to weigh up the situation, even though he has been leaning towards handing him a new contract.

Moyes has continued to have some say on planning at the club and while he does not always see eye to eye with technical director Tim Steidten over potential signings, he has been keen to continue in his role at the London Stadium.

The January transfer window was a frustrating one for the club, as they did not secure a new attacker as they would have liked, but Moyes will want license to voice his opinions on additions for the summer window if he stays.

West Ham United Are Eyeing A Move For This Bundesliga Forward: Should Moyes Go For Him?

West Ham United are eyeing a move for VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy as they look to bolster their attack in the summer.

In a recent post on The Daily Briefing, journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that West Ham United are eyeing a move for Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy. It has been claimed that the Hammers were eager to recruit the talented forward in January but failed to do so.

Guirassy’s Impressive Form In Bundesliga

Guirassy has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the German club after putting in plenty of productive displays as the focal point of their attack. The Guinea international has featured in 16 matches for Stuttgart this season, scoring 19 times and earning two assists across multiple competitions.

The Arles-born attacker has given a good account of himself in the final third as he is averaging 3.4 shots, 1.7 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when linking up play with others around him in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 82.4% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the German club will run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, West Ham will have to make a good offer if they are serious about signing Guirassy later this year.

Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Go For Guirassy?

Guirassy can engineer a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball purely and with power from all ranges. The Guinea sensation has proven himself to be a capable finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. He can also create the odd chance for his teammates and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, only time will tell whether the talented frontman can make a smooth transition to life in England.

We can expect someone with Guirassy’s skillset to add more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ attack. He has what it takes to rival Michail Antonio for a regular starting spot at the East London club over the next few seasons.

At 27, Guirassy is about to enter the peak stage of his playing career which makes him a decent choice for the Hammers to consider at the end of this campaign. With all things considered, Moyes should go for a striker of Guirassy’s quality when the transfer window reopens later this year.
